Overview

Plan your Sri Lanka visit with the correct Electronic Travel Authorization before arrival. The immigration authority states that eligible Indian nationals are among the 40-country tourist ETA fee-waiver scheme effective from 25 May 2026. An ETA is still required; a fee waiver is not permission to travel without the authorisation.

Under this scheme the tourist visit is up to 30 days, with double entry within the first-arrival 30-day period, subject to the authority's conditions. Carry a passport valid for at least six months from arrival, confirmed return travel and evidence of sufficient funds. Check the dates and conditions printed on your actual approval.

SRDV Technologies offers optional checklist and application assistance. Any service fee is separate from government charges and must be agreed in writing. We do not guarantee approval, entry or extensions. Guidance checked on 30 October 2026. Official reference: https://www.immigration.gov.lk/pages_e.php?id=60

The 30-day period shown here is counted from first arrival; the second entry uses only the balance of that period. Your issued ETA has its own use-before date, which must be checked separately. The sample acknowledgement refers to a response within 48 hours; referral cases may take longer and approval is not guaranteed.

Terms

Authority timing and conditions

The 48-hour figure is an indicative response reference in the authority sample acknowledgement, not a guaranteed approval deadline. Referral or document checks can take longer. Verify the actual approval before travel.

Optional assistance and charges

Eligible Indian tourist ETA authority fees are waived under the current scheme. Any requested SRDV assistance is optional, separate and quoted in writing. An enquiry does not submit an ETA application.

Decision, changes and refunds

The Sri Lankan authorities decide approval and admission. Verify the accepted authority and assistance conditions before payment. Changes and cancellations do not create an automatic refund entitlement.

Validity and permitted stay

The 30-day period shown is counted from first arrival, and a second entry uses the remaining balance. Your issued ETA has a separate use-before date; check that date on the actual approval rather than treating this stay period as an issuance deadline.

FAQs

3 questions

Is an ETA still needed when the government fee is waived?

Yes. The current official scheme includes eligible Indian nationals, but requires ETA approval before arrival. A fee waiver does not remove the authorisation requirement.

How long can an eligible tourist stay?

The scheme provides a visit of up to 30 days with double entry within the applicable 30-day period from first arrival. The issued approval and immigration conditions govern your visit.

What does TripSarathi charge?

Any requested assistance is optional and quoted separately in writing. Do not treat an assistance fee as a government ETA fee under the eligible fee-waiver scheme.
